The obligatory weather report: Today was sunny but cool with lows in the 40s, but warming into the 60s in the afternoon, and mostly a light breeze (with a few cold gusts). Tomorrow the highs will be in the 70s and all singles matches will start promptly at 9am!

In the 1960s, the four seeds reached the semifinals without dropping a set. Vicki Buholz (1) now plays Anna Zimmermann (4), and Jenny Rens Keller (2) takes on Ellen Markowitz (3) tomorrow.
In 60 Doubles, for some reason only three seeds are listed and all four reached the semifinals, along with Markowitz/Sylvia Kodsi. Buholz/Rens won decisively and will face Stacey Williams/Mariana Hollman (seeded, 3, who won 62 75 against Rangel/Morgan); Kodsi/Markowitz defeated Zimmermann/Simone 76 75 and Charlton/Kaleel (2) defeated Esswin/Collins 76 64.
In the 1970s, all eight seeds advanced to the semifinals, but Janet Mosely took a set over No. 2 Bunnie Jackson, who won the first and third sets at 61 60 but dropped the second 64, noting that Mosely played extremely well in the second set. Jackson now plays Andrea Barnes (6); Pat Purcell (3) takes on #8 Kathy Foulk; Leslie Murveit (4) has a rematch with Una Davis (7) (they played last month) and I’m playing Tina Karwasky (5) in a tough quarterfinal! I beat Sherri Bronson today.
In 70 doubles tomorrow, Bunnie Jackson and I will play Barnes/Murveit, the #3 seeds, and Purcell/Betsy Savitt (#2) against Karwasky/Foulk (4). Karwasky/Foulk had to play three sets to get past Donna Drosner/Debbie Burgess.

In the 1980s there was actual disruption, albeit of a limited nature. Sharon Greene upset #4 Brenda Winstead with 75 in the third; and #2 Betty Wachob had to play three long sets to beat Carol Clay 64 67 63. Greene next plays Wachob while Sue Kimball (1) and Brenda Carter (3) play in the other semifinal; they both won handily today.
The 80 doubles has 7 teams and plays two round robins of 3 and 4 teams respectively; the winners of each group play for gold.
