Sarr joined Chelsea this summer and even trained with the first team before returning on loan to partner club Strasbourg. The Senegal international has been a key part of Le Racing’s backline, wearing the armband on occasion this season.
However, his loan to Strasbourg included a recall option, one that has now been activated by Chelsea, who have struggled with injuries at the back this season and failed to secure the signings Liam Rosenior wanted.
CHELSEA on the club website: ‘The 20-year-old signed for the Blues in June and made his debut against ES Tunis during our triumphant Club World Cup campaign.
‘He returned to Strasbourg on loan in August and played eighteen games for the French club in Ligue 1 and the Conference League. Sarr earned his first cap for Senegal in November and was included in their squad for the Africa Cup of Nations.
‘Having made two substitute appearances earlier in the tournament, Sarr started the final as Senegal were crowned champions after a dramatic 1-0 win over Morocco in extra time.’
IcFootballnews says….
CHELSEA Failing to get the transfer signings they wanted in January meant the club missed out on the side’s top transfer target, which is why Sarr is now back at the club.
Liam Rosenier knows Sarr very well from his time in Strasbourg and will certainly give him the playing time and minutes he needs. He’ll get more of an opportunity to shine in that Blues shirt like he’s never done before.
This is a very good decision by the Blues to bring him back.
