Reason why Pakistan wears pink jersey against South Africa in the Rawalpindi T20I

The Pakistan men’s cricket team is taking part in a significant awareness campaign by swapping their traditional green kits for striking pink jerseys during the first T20I in Rawalpindi. The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) officially announced the new look via its social media platforms and stated: “Going pink for a cause that matters… Pakistan players will wear pink-themed kits in the first #PAKvSA T20I to raise awareness about breast cancer, as part of the #PINKtober initiative.”

This dedication to the cause extends beyond the players’ clothing; “In addition, South African cricketers, match officials, commentators and broadcasters will also join the cause by wearing pink ribbons throughout the match.” The atmosphere throughout the stadium reflects the theme, with the use of pink branded stumps throughout the match, while awareness messages and images are displayed during the live broadcast. Moreover, this initiative is a collaboration with the Pink Ribbon Breast Cancer Trust Hospital, Lahore “offers free same-day clinical exams and screenings for visitors.”
