Afghanistan delivered a clinical all-round performance to Pakistan with 18 points in the Tri series collision just before the Asia Cup 2025.
As the first battle, Afghanistan 169-5, thanks to an excellent partnership between Sediqullah Atal (64 from 45) and Ibrahim Zadran (65 out of 45).
The duo kept Pakistan’s attack remotely and provided a strong platform despite the brilliant enchantment of Fahraf Ashraf of 4-27. A late cameo from skipper Rashid Khan (8* from 4) pushed the total almost 170.
As an answer, Pakistan staggered early when Fazalhaq Farooqi hit the Powerplay and deleted both openers.
Fakhar Zaman showed the intention with 25 out of 18, but the experience of Mohammad Nabi brought his stay. The spinners of Afghanistan then extended the Noose Nabi (2-20), Rashid (2-30) and Noor Ahmad (2-20) all out of their part.
Pakistan slipped to 111-9 before Haris Rauf (34* from 16) returned back with four sixes, but the damage was caused. The bowlers of Afghanistan kept their courage to seal a comfortable 18-run victory and hand Pakistan their first defeat of the series.
This victory not only increases the trust of Afghanistan prior to the Asia cup, but also highlights their spindle depth of world class that continues to bother the top children.
