Rodriguez was among Atlanta’s top 30 prospects after signing in minor league free agency prior to the 2025 campaign. FanGraph And MLB.com both had him ranked 25th. The 22-year-old pitched Double-A for 10 games before moving up to Triple-A. Rodriguez posted a disappointing .640 OPS with Gwinnett, but did hit a career-high eight home runs with 17 stolen bases. At the end of the season, he hit minor league free agency again.
Milwaukee signed Rodriguez as an international free agent in 2017. He piled up hits at the lower levels of the minors, hitting well above .300 in his first two professional seasons. Rodriguez dropped to a 91 wRC+ in his first attempt at High-A in 2021. He repeated the mark in 2022, hitting a respectable .268/.355/.415.
Rodriguez followed a similar route at Double-A, posting near league-average results in 2023 before putting together one of his best seasons yet in his second attempt. FanGraph arranged Rodriguez (the outfielder) ranked 34th among the Brewers’ prospects heading into the 2024 season. As a 23-year-old repeating Double-A, Rodriguez posted a career-best 130 wRC+ with more walks than strikeouts. The performance earned him a bump against Triple-A, where his production fell outside of strong plate discipline.
The 24-year-old Rodriguez now gets the chance to earn a spot in the big league with San Diego. He performed well in the spring, in consecutive seasons, although the sample size is limited. Rodriguez went 6-for-13 in 10 spring games with the Brewers in 2024. He had five hits and a stolen base in 16 at-bats with the Braves last spring.
