On Sunday we asked the Newcastle United fans the question: do you now want Eddie Howe to be sacked, or move on and at the end of the season he and the club will evaluate everything?
When we asked NUFC supporters to vote, we said that sometimes it’s so hard to judge things properly when so much is being said on social media and often those with the most extreme views, positive and negative, get the most attention.
That’s why we thought it was worth polling what thousands of Newcastle United fans think about Eddie Howe and the like this season.
A snapshot of opinion on how people are feeling right now.
As Newcastle United fans, would you like to give the end of the season a chance for the club and Eddie Howe to evaluate everything?
Or are you a Newcastle United fan who thinks it would be a good idea to sack Eddie Howe at this point?
Like I said, it’s very difficult to gauge what the silent majority of Newcastle United fans are thinking, with all this noise on social media and online in general.
That’s why we asked Newcastle United fans to choose from the two options below which best reflects how they think.
Here are the two options and the percentage of fans who voted for each of them:
14% Eddie Howe is now fired
86% Eddie Howe will continue and he and the club will evaluate everything at the end of the season
Many thanks to the thousands of Newcastle United fans who took the time to vote.
An overwhelming vote in favor of NOT sacking Eddie Howe this season, with more than one in seven fans voting not wanting the manager to leave this season.
As mentioned before, it’s so difficult in this modern world where if you’re a little into graffiti, and what you see on social media and online in general, you can give the impression that there are many more people involved than is actually the case.
My personal opinion is that I would think it would be madness to want Eddie Howe fired mid-season.
I hoped that the public mood would support that position and it clearly did, with that overwhelming result from the Newcastle United fans. You can never be sure what the (largely) silent majority of NUFC supporters as a general fanbase are thinking and so it really helps to carry out exercises like this to find out.
Good luck to Eddie Howe and the Newcastle United players as they get back into form in the coming weeks and months (and years…).
