Harness Racing South Australia’s flagship event, the Ladbrokes SA Cup, has delivered an impressive betting performance, with average revenue per race across the heats and final nights up 17.5 percent year-on-year, and total revenue on Cup Night up 11.5 percent.
Strong fields, passionate on-track support and continued partnership with Ladbrokes helped cement the Cup’s reputation as the state’s premier racing and betting event.
Harness Racing SA Chief Executive Officer Heath Pocock said the results were a well-deserved reward for the industry’s commitment to delivering a first-class product.
“The Ladbrokes SA Cup is the pinnacle of harness racing in our state, and it is fantastic to see such strong involvement from competitors, supporters and the betting public,” Pocock said.
“These figures reflect the hard work and professionalism of everyone involved, our competitors, clubs, sponsors and the dedicated HRSA team behind the scenes. It is a great vote of confidence in South Australian harness racing.”
Despite significant rain and lightning in the hours leading up to the meeting, the Cup program still attracted a large crowd on track, as well as a significant online and television audience tuning in via Sky Racing and Ladbrokes.
The renewed national interest in South Australian harness racing was further highlighted by its ability to attract high caliber horses, with winner Miki to Success, who also ran in the Eureka, being the standout winner of the Ladbrokes SA Cup.

The strong performance in the Ladbrokes SA Cup caps off an exciting October for the sport in South Australia, with momentum now building towards the Southern Cross Finals Night on Saturday 20 December.
