Our open wildcards: Basavareddy, Blanch and Venus Williams

The USTA announced its wildcard recipients on Wednesday for the coming Our open.

On the men’s side, a pity in the main Draw go to Nishesh Basavareddy, Brandon Holt, Tristan Boyer, Emilio Nava, Stefan Dostanic, Darwin Blanch, Valentin Royer and Tristan Schoolkate. On the women’s side, Venus Williams, Caty McNally, Julieta Pareja, Clervie Ngounoue, Valerie Glozman, Caroline Garcia and Talia Gibson will be in the main drawing.

Dostanic played a place in a place by winning the American collegial play -offs of Wild Card in June. The Wake Forest product, which led its school to the NCAA title in May, defeated Columbia’s Michael Zheng 6-3, 6-4 in the final. Zheng has an American open -qualifying wildcard.

Blanch also earned his wildcard on the field. The 17-year-old American triumphed in the 18-year-old nationals of the boys in Kalamazoo last Sunday and beat Jack Satterfield 6-3, 4-6, 6-4, 6-4. Blanch played two games at the ATP level, including a 6-1, 6-0 loss for Rafael Nadal at the Madrid Masters 2024.

Williams, 45, beat Peyton Stearns in Washington last month, DC and also played in Cincinnati. The sevenfold Grand Slam Singles champion and double US Open winner is the oldest player who won a match on the WTA tour in more than 21 years.

Main Draw Singles promotion at Flushing Meadows starts on Sunday, August 24. It is preceded by the Mixed Doubles competition during the US Open Fan Week.
