Toronto, Ont. – Oujda (FR), Under a strong ride of Rafael Hernandez, impressive collected to win the $ 125,000 sweet Briar on Saturday at Woodbine.
Trained by William Walden for owner Woodford Thoroughbrreds LLC, the 5-year-old daughter of Sioux Nation from the elusive quality Mare la Conseillante looked at home at home on the EP Taylor Turf after an exceptional effort on the world-famous course.
Queen of the Mud (IRE) and Sickle Dance both came away sharply in the six-Furlong function for mares and mares, 3-year-olds and up, with sickle the leader dancing through an opening quarter in: 22.79 above sturdy soil, while Oujda (FR) went into the track in the fourth of 10.
Queen of the Mud (IRE) had a slim advantage over Sikkeldans and Gradse deployment winner Dontlookbackatall in half: 44.80, but a large number of runners, including Oujda (FR), came to call when the long drive started to the thread.

The circle journey of a winner was in the early piece before taking, because Hernandez Oujda (FR) had from the rail and was looking for Dontlookbackatall. Ready to jam, supplemented with the race, was also full of running outside, while Stablemate Ticker Tape Home came to the finish line with an interior bid with less than 200 meters.
At the wire, Oujda (FR) was 1 ¼ lengths free of ready to jam. Ticker Tape Home, half a length of back, was third, a neck for the late-running metaphysical. Dancing Duchess was scratched.
The last time was a Brisse 1: 07.98 (the track record is 1: 06.88, set by Kasuga on July 7, 2017).
Herandez was pleased to see how the tied up Oujda (FR), a winner of Group 3 in Europe, is high in its first North -American test.
“I had a phone call today,” said Hernandez. “He [William Walden] I said, “Raffy, just let her break, drive like you own her and just drive with confidence, and she’s going to do everything.”
“I just wanted to save ground and drive confident. That is what I did – just put her on the track.”
Oujda (FR) also arrived at the Sweet Briar from a victory in group 3 Prix de Seine-et-Oise in Chantilly on October 26, 2024.
Bred in France by Scea du Grand Chene Haras du Bois, the Chestnut Mare is now 7-2-1 of 17 Starts.
Oujda (FR) debuted in November 2022 with a second in Chantilly and broke her girl in her next start, on March 12, 2023, in Compiegne.
A purchase of $ 996,613 (USD) from the 2024 Tattersalls December Mare Sale, she paid $ 9.60 for Saturday’s victory.
