It seems that the senators of Ottawa are a new step closer to a new arena in the center of Ottawa. This afternoon the team announced their low -development -capital Sports Development Inc. to and the National Capital Commission (NCC) of the federal government had signed an agreement on the Purchase and sale of 4.5 hectares (11 hectare) Land in LeBreton Flats for the final construction of a large event center and Arena District that will eventually become the new house of the senators.

Financial conditions of the deal were not disclosed. President and CEO of Senators Cyril Leeder was satisfied but careful when announcing the DEA and said that although the purchase and sales agreement is the “next step in the process, there are many more obstacles to delete an event center at Lebreton Flats”. These obstacles include the financing of the project, the zoning plan, the design and approvals, as well as disinfection of the country to prepare for construction. As Leeder noted in an interview earlier this year, “it will be years” before there are kicking in the ground to start the construction of the new building. (Van, Bruce Garrioch, “It will be years before Ottawa Senators move to Lebreton Flats, says Club President”, The Ottawa Citizen, 26/03/2025)
A new arena in LeBreton apartments close to the center of Ottawa would be seen by many fans as a much more attractive location than their current location in the western end of Ottawa in the Canadian Tyre Center in Kanata, 25 kilometers from the city center.
