Glasgow Clan won their second straight overtime game, beating Sheffield Steelers 3-2 in OT on Wednesday night.
A near sell-out crowd at Braehead Arena was treated to an excellent match between two evenly matched teams. The Clan defeated their opponents in each of the first two periods, but the match remained tied heading into the third.
The only goals in the 40th minute came in the opening period. Sam Tremblay gave the Steelers the lead 2:40 into the game, one-timed Evan Jasper’s feed from behind the net. Clan leveled matters at 2:55 before the first break when Reece Kelly’s turnover behind his own goal allowed Robert Lachowicz to find Miihkali Teppo in the slot for a one-time finish.
There were no goals in the second period, although Clan botched a series of missed power play opportunities. Four Steelers penalties gave them continued pressure but Matt Greenfield held firm to keep the score level.
Former Steeler Brett Neumann had a golden opportunity to put his new team ahead, but was denied by Greenfield while playing one-on-one. However, Neumann did strike at the 6:42 mark of the third period, converting a set faceoff play off Brayden Burke’s pass to give the Clan the lead.
With 7:22 to play, Dominic Cormier’s shot bounced off Sami Aittokallio straight to Derek Gentile, who fired in the rebound to tie the game again. The Steelers had the better of the late chances, but both teams ultimately deserved to get something out of the game going into overtime.

In the extra frame, both Jordon Southorn and Darien Kielb came close before Kielb dumped the puck across the crease for Jason Fram to score the winner at 63:20, sealing another dramatic win for the Clan in overtime.
