Oscar Collazo retained his ring magazine, WBO and WBA World Strawweight titles via KO after the corner of Jayson Vayson shocked in the towel during the seventh round of Their main event In California.
Collazo received an early knock -down after catching Vayson with a look at a look on the right at the end of the opening round. The punch did not seem to influence Vayson, but he was just out of balance enough to hit the mat. Undoubtedly it could have been called a slip, but because the fall was preceded by a blow, the referee chose to rule a knock -down for Collazo.
Vayson recovered some momentum in the second Stanza and landed his own right hand that Collazo Wiebie. The success of Vayson, however, was short -lived, because Collazo repeatedly let him pay in the third with a whole series of brutal body shots.
In the fourth, Vayson landed his own thriving bodyblow that Collazo had achieved heavily. Vayson dominated the early part of the round, but Collazo came up late and possibly waved the score cards back in his favor.
After a fairly competitive fifth round, Collazo started to set up the heat in the sixth, but Vayson did not show any signs of decline. Inexplicably the referee stepped in during one of the times of Collazo and called for the standing KO interruption. The decision caused mass confusion for those present. Even the commentators closed the interruption and called it a “butter” before they condemned the decision.
It appears that Vayson’s corner threw verbally in the towel, so that their hunter of a chance to be dissected a world champion. “Every person in that corner must be fired,” proclaimed a commentator during the broadcast.
