Tweeveer Wimbledon Runner-Up Our Jabeur has announced that she is taking a break from tennis to ‘rediscover the joy of life’ after a difficult enchantment in her career.
The Tunisian recently made a tearful exit in the first round in Wimbledon, because she was forced to retire during her match against Viktoriya Tomova.
In recent years, Jabeur has delivered himself to a fan favorite on British soil, after he made the final at SW19 in both 2022 and 2023 and fell at Elena Rybakina and Marketa Vondrousova on those occasions.
The defeats would combine with its loss of 2022 at the US Open final in feeding a painful striving for a first Grand Slam title, with subsequent injury problems and a decrease in form that promotes highlight in its decision to step away from the court.
“For the past two years I have pushed myself so hard, fought due to injuries and confronted many other challenges,” she said in a statement on social media. “But deep down I have not felt really happy on the field for a while.
“Tennis is such a beautiful sport. But at the moment I think it’s time to take a step back and finally put it first: to breathe, heal and rediscover the joy of normal life.
‘Thanks to all my fans for understanding. Your support and love mean the world for me. I always wear it with me.
“Even when I’m away from the field, I keep being close and connected in different ways and sharing this journey with you all. Us.”
Jabeur has become a pioneer in the tennis of ladies such as the first African and Arab woman who appears in a grand finale of singles, and is also the highest ranked African and Arabic tennis player in the history of ATP and WTA Rankings when she reached no. 2 in 2022.
She had emerged as a must-see attraction on both routes to the final in the All England Club with her bold drop shots and bag with tricks.
