Following its preview last month, the Dongfeng Vigo EV has now been launched in Malaysia; also launched today is the Dongfeng 007. Priced at RM108,888 on the road without insurance, the Vigo – like the 007 – gets an introductory price including a discount of RM8,888, bringing the Vigo’s price to RM100,000.
The Dongfeng Vigo is 4,306 mm long, 1,868 mm wide and 1,654 mm high and has a wheelbase of 2,715 mm. By comparison, the BYD Atto 2 is in its ballpark, with the latter being 4mm shorter, 38mm wider and 30mm lower. One variant will be offered at launch for the Malaysian market equivalent of the Nammi 06, and it will feature a front-mounted 161PS/230Nm permanent synchronous motor that will propel the Vigo from 0-100km/h in 9.5 seconds.
This is based on a 51.87 kWh lithium iron phosphate (LFP) battery, which is estimated to last 471 km on the Chinese CLTC test cycle; This can be expected to be closer to the region of 330 to 380 km according to the WLTP test standard.

In terms of charging, the Vigo can charge up to 167 kW DC via the CCS2 connector, while home charging via AC via the Type 2 connector is 6.6 kW, with the latter method achieving a full charge in nine hours. Conversely, the Vigo can provide a V2L power supply of up to 3.3 kW.
For chassis specs, the Vigo gets McPherson struts up front and a torsion beam setup at the rear, with disc brakes for both the front and rear axles. The rolling stock consists of a set of 18-inch alloy wheels shod with 215/55R18 tires.
At the front, the Vigo gets inverted L-shaped LED projector headlamps, while the doors have recessed handles with electronic release mechanisms. At the rear, the Vigo gets a split tailgate, as found in more expensive SUVs such as the BMW X5 and the Range Rover, which opens up to a luggage compartment with a capacity of 500 liters.

The interior equipment of the Vigo consists of six-way electrically adjustable front seats, with the driver’s seat also having a memory function and seat ventilation. The interior trim is vegan leather in a single light gray and black color scheme, with further equipment including wireless device charging, configurable ambient lighting that can be synchronized with music playback, and automatic air conditioning with PM2.5 filtration.
The driver gets an 8.8-inch driver display, while the infotainment is a 12.8-inch central touchscreen, with wireless Apple CarPlay and wired Android Auto for smartphone connectivity.

For driver assistance features, the Vigo gets a range of Level 2 ADAS features including autonomous emergency braking, forward collision warning, lane departure warning, lane keeping assist and traffic sign recognition. Also included are ABS, EBD, brake assist, traction control, stability control and hill start assist.
Like its stablemates in the Malaysian market, the Dongfeng Vigo is backed by a six-year unlimited mileage vehicle warranty and an eight-year unlimited mileage warranty on the drive battery. Six exterior colors are available for the Dongfeng Vigo: Arctic White, Titanium Silver, Sandstone Beige, Mosswood Green, Canyon Orange and Cyber Black.
In Malaysia, the Dongfeng brand is represented by Volt Auto, which collaborates with Pekema subsidiary Central Auto Distributors Berhad (CADB). The brand is exploring local assembly (CKD) options in Malaysia, the company said.
