The Chicago Blackhawks is considering acting Lukas Reichel, should be believed as recent reports and speculation. And if that is true, expect the Edmonton Oilers to make a phone call.
According to Mark Spector of Sportnet, “Lukas Reichel will show interest – especially in Edmonton.” He adds: “GM Bowman has set him up in Chicago and now has to become younger in Edmonton. Reichel is soft, and probably not the Top 6 Center Chicago hoped he would be.”
Spector wonders if Riechel could be for the oilers what Vasily Podkolzin was – a player who had found himself in the outs with his team and needed a new start. Spector notes: “… like Podkolzin – in a place where he is not seen as a 1st RD player.”
The Blackhawks seem ready to continue from Reichel
The word is that the Blackhawks have been pretty active in recent days, with teams interested in Reichel. He is a talented former first round pick that has now completed five training camps and several seasons that tries to establish itself, but consistency has escaped him. The skill and skating capacity are clear, making it enigmatic that he has not been able to put it together and be a factor in Chicago.
NHL Insider Frank served notesAlthough many may assume that it is only a matter of time before he breaks through, the Blackhawks seem to believe it will not happen in Chicago. As a result, they are working on a deal to move it, possibly before schedules will be completed next week.
However, the expected return will not be significant. Sources suggest that Chicago looks at a round pick from middle to late, which would work well for the oilers. That will probably not be very pleasant for fans in Chicago who recognize the raw talent that Reichel possesses. Unfortunately, the organization seems ready to continue, even if the commercial value does not reflect the benefit of the player.
