For the period between February 26 and March 4, 2026, the Ministry of Finance announced that the sales price of gasoline from RON 97 was increased by five cents per liter to RM3.15 per litre.
For non-subsidized petrol of RON 95, this was also increased by five cents per liter RM2.59 per litre. However, the retail price of RON95 subsidized petrol remains the same RM1.99 per litre.
The retail price of diesel in Peninsular Malaysia was also increased by five cents per litre RM3.04 per litre. As for the retail price of diesel in Sabah, Sarawak and Labuan, it is still expensive RM2.15 per litre.
On Feb 11, Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim said the government expects savings of RM2.5 billion this year from the implementation of the RON95 petrol subsidy under the Budi Madani 95 (Budi95) programme. Through this program, it has recorded an average of up to 3.1 million transactions per day, or up to 96 million transactions per month.
“I emphasize that this development is very positive news, because not many countries dare to take decisive steps to implement subsidy targeting, given the risks and challenges from the point of view of people’s acceptance,” he said.
