In recent days, La Liga has performed its efforts to move the league match between FC Barcelona and Villarreal, planned to be played in December, to the US.
The competition, led by Javier Tebas, has constantly tried to get a match to be played in the US and has even received approval from the RFEF to move the aforementioned game to Miami, with a GO-Ahead of UEFA that was now expected.
Barcelona, for their part, is very open to the idea, and Villarreal is also on board, but their rivals have decided to resist the move Real Madrid.
Real Madrid opposes Move
In an official statement issued today, Real Madrid expressed their concern about moving the La Liga match between Barcelona and Villarreal van The Madrigal For Miami, which states that it influences the integrity of the competition.
The Spanish capital club argued that this step had been taken without prior information or consultation with the clubs that participated in the competition.
They also insisted that it spends the fundamental principle of territorial reciprocity that controls two-legged competition formats (one match at home, the other way).
Read part of the statement as follows: “The integrity of competition requires that all matches are played under the same conditions for all teams. The unique change of this system breaks the equality between competitors, endangers the legitimacy of the results and brings an unacceptable precedent to open the door for exceptions.”

“Every change of this nature must in any case have the express and unanimous agreement of all clubs participating in the competition, in addition to strictly compliance with the national and international rules for the organization of official competitions.”
Real Madrid Lodge a complaint
As such, Real Madrid has decided to take action against the move, whereby the explanation was confirmed that they had written to FIFA, UEFA and the Spanish Higher Sports Council (CSD) who express their concern and ask them to cut this idea to the button.
“To defend this principle, Real Madrid has already taken three specific actions:
1. Ask FIFA, if the guarantee for international football rules, not to authorize the game to be played without the earlier permission of all clubs participating in the competition.
2. Request UEFA, as the guarantor for the integrity of European competitions and the consistency of the regulations with FIFA, to trace the RFEF to withdraw or refuse the RFEF, which reconfirmed the criteria set here in 2018 that are not played here, except for justified exceptional circumstances, who are not applicable.
3. Request the higher sports council not to grant the necessary administrative permission without such a unanimous permission. “
The last part of Real Madrid’s statement reads:
“Real Madrid confirms its dedication to respect the national and international rules that guarantee the fairness and proper functioning of official competitions and will defend their compliance for all competent authorities.”
It will be interesting to see how Barcelona, Villarreal and La Liga respond to these actions of the Spanish capital club.
