Availability notes for this Brentford match and beyond.
Official Newcastle United injury update from Eddie Howe – November 7, 2025:
Eddie Howe said this about Anthony Gordon on Wednesday night when he was subbed off after 41 minutes:
“I haven’t spoken to him and I haven’t really had a full overview of the medical team… but it appears that the hip injury that has plagued him in recent weeks is resurfacing. So we will assess that and see what damage has been done.”
Eddie Howe provided this update on Anthony Gordon this Friday morning:
“We don’t think it is a serious injury. We will have him scanned and we will wait for the results. There is a good chance he will miss Sunday, but we will give him every chance to be fit.”
Eddie Howe said this about Will Osula on Wednesday night, Osula was not among the substitutes despite being named as one just over an hour before kick-off:
“We have spoken to him extensively in recent days about his ankle, whether he is fit enough to actually perform at the level we need and what he feels comfortable with. After consultation, we thought it best to withdraw him and try to get his ankle 100 percent right.”
Eddie Howe gave this update on Will Osula this Friday morning:
“It’s something he’s been feeling for a while, but it’s been functional. He’s been able to train and play. It got to the point where it was affecting him a bit more. He had a scan and we were waiting for the results, linked to the match, and the scan told us to pull back a bit. It’s not a serious injury, we expect it to last weeks, not longer.”
As expected, Yoane Wissa is unavailable for this Brentford match, but Eddie Howe provides this new update:
“He’s working well. He’s on the grass and he’s working on his fitness. The knee feels good and there’s no problems with that. It’s more a matter of looking at his fitness, sharpness and all the things he needs to put together.”
He’s in a good spot to step on and push his body. We have to give him time to become robust enough and be able to give the best of himself for the team. I’m sure it will be worth the wait.”
Eddie Howe says this about Lewis Hall getting his first minutes off the bench on Wednesday evening:
‘He’s closer [to a return to the starting XI]. I thought it was a really good cameo from him. We have to remember that he has had very limited training time, so I have to be careful with him. I think of him very much because of the quality of the player he is. He has gone through a difficult period due to his injury. He is such an important player and we need him for the long term.”
