An official club announcement on Tuesday has revealed a new training base for Newcastle United Women.

The official release (see below) stating that the NUFC Women’s set-up will have their own designated base, as part of the Newcastle University Cochrane Park sports facility.

As well as the Newcastle United Women senior team training there, it will also be home to our Women’s Under-21 and Under-16 squads.

Always good to see progress at Newcastle United in any area.

However, Newcastle United fans are still awaiting much-delayed plans as to what the purpose of the new, much larger capacity stadium to replace St James’ Park will be, as well as the location for a brand new, state-of-the-art training complex for the men’s team.

Newcastle United official announcement – October 14, 2025:

Newcastle United Women have acquired a new training base as part of Newcastle University’s Cochrane Park sports facility, bringing the women’s team geographically closer to the current men’s and academy training facilities.

The club has secured its own dedicated training, medical and player care areas at Cochrane Park. This includes exclusive access to three designated grass training pitches, which have been refurbished and maintained by our dedicated groundsstaff, while we also invest in a high-quality gym and recovery facilities.

The site will also provide office space for staff, as well as a players’ lounge, analysis room and a purpose-built kitchen, including a dedicated team of chefs.

Cochrane Park underwent a £5.2 million transformation in 2019, including new grass and artificial pitches, renovation and extension of the historic 1930s pavilion. This renovation gives it the opportunity to be the home of our Women’s Under-21 and Under-16 sides, following the move to become a Category 1 Professional Games Academy in the summer.

Grace Williams, director of women’s football, said: “We are very pleased to have secured a new training base at Cochrane Park, which will give us the opportunity to create the own elite facilities we need to continue our progression on and off the pitch.

“This is an exciting step forward for the club and I would like to thank Newcastle University for their support throughout and we are delighted to continue working with them.”

Professor Jane Robinson, Pro-Vice-Chancellor, Engagement and Place at the University of Newcastle, said: “We are delighted to be working with Newcastle United’s first women’s team, Under-21s and Under-16s. This partnership provides an excellent opportunity for the University to build on our partnership with Newcastle United and support the continued incredible success of women’s football.

“We look forward to further developing this partnership with Newcastle United to deliver wider mutual benefits for both parties.”
