Nuno Out, Ange In: What does it mean for forest players in FPL?

Nuno Out, Ange In: What does it mean for forest players in FPL?

Out with the defense-first old, inside with the all-out attack new?

That is the simplistic (and not inaccurate) reading of the management change in Nottingham Forest after the resignation of Monday from Nuno Espirito Santo.

Ange Postecoglou comes back in the Premier League after his two -year -old Stint in Tottenham Hotspur ended in June.

In this piece we ask what the first management victim and rental of the season means for fantasy managers.

We will not repeat the potent history that we included in our reconnaissance report two years ago; Postecoglou is not the relatively unknown quantity in advance.

Instead, we will concentrate more in its time at Spurs.

In summary: goals and many of them!

Spurs scored and gave 60+ goals in each of the two seasons of Postecoglou at the helm.

The expected goals on both ends (XG/XGC) are also in the 60-70 Ballpark. In the upper half for XG in every year the LilyWhites were in the bottom of the table for XGC.

In terms of clean sheets, Spurs received no more than seven in both campaigns.

*Van Gamweek 18

The forest of Nuno was almost a mirror image.

The clean sheets did not come out in his first half season, but the underlying data was there: they are in fourth place for XGC of Gameweek 18 (Nuno’s first match as head coach) of 2023/24.

The tricky trees followed that by finishing joint seams for clean sheets in 2024/25.

As for goalscoring, 58 was a decent count last season. But forest enormously over -performed (+11.43) on the XG front, trusting ruthlessness – especially of Chris Wood (£ 7.7 million) – created instead of a large amount of opportunities.
