NTPC Q2 results: Cons PAT down 4% YoY to Rs 5,067 crore, revenue up marginally; Rs 2.75 dividend per share announced

State-owned power utility NTPC reported a 4% year-on-year decline in its consolidated net profit for the quarter ended September 30, 2025 at Rs 5,067 crore, compared to Rs 5,275 crore in the same period a year ago. The profit after tax (PAT) is attributable to the owners of the parent company.

The company’s Q2FY26 operating revenue rose marginally by 0.1% to Rs 44,786 crore, compared to Rs 44,706 crore in the corresponding quarter of the last fiscal.

Operating profit declined sharply on a sequential basis, down nearly 16% from Rs 6,011 crore in Q1FY26, while revenue declined around 5% from Rs 47,065 crore in the April-June quarter of FY26.

Power major PSU announced its first interim dividend of Rs 2.75 per share for the financial year 2025-26. The date of payment or dispatch of the dividend is set for November 25, 2025.

The company’s revenue from power generation in the quarter under review was Rs 43,502 crore, compared to Rs 45,902 crore in Q1FY26 and Rs 43,693 crore in Q2FY25. Other revenues stood at Rs 4,923 crore in Q2FY26, compared to Rs 4,894 crore in Q1FY26 and Rs 4,168 crore in Q2FY25. However, the cross-segment elimination revenues amounted to Rs 3,211 crore, which was deducted from the total revenue. NTPC incurred expenses of Rs 40,218 crore, down year-on-year and sequentially compared to Rs 40,877 crore in Q2FY25 and Rs 42,540 crore in Q1FY26. The expenses included fuel costs, electricity purchased for trading purposes, financing costs and personnel costs. The NTPC Group’s installed and commercial capacity stood at 83,893 MW as of September 30, 2025, compared to 76,443 MW in the year-ago period. The capacity grew by 7,450 MW on an annual basis. The thermal capacity has increased by 2,200 MW, while the renewable capacity has increased by 5,250 MW.

The earnings were announced after trading hours and NTPC shares ended at Rs 345.30 on the NSE today, down by Rs 2.20 or 0.63%.
