Earlier today, Werkminister Datuk Seri Alexander Nanta Linggi said via a Facebook message That an additional concession agreement (SCA) is signed between the government, via the Ministry of Works (KKR) and IJM Corp, through its full subsidiary New Pantai Expressway (NPE), to formalize the approval for the construction of the new Pantai Expressway extension (NPE2).
As part of the SCA, Nanta said that the government has approved the extension of the existing NPE concession time frame with 27 years, from the original period from 2030 to 2057. It also agreed to the proposal from IJM to the restructuring of the toll rates on the NPE, this is achieved by the current TOLLAARE) 2057.
Nanta said that the relocation is expected to be saved of approximately RM185 million in compensation payments for the government during the original concession period (2024-2030).
The NPE2 is a fully raised route of 15 km long, from the Pantai Dalam Toll Plaza to the Jalan Istana exchange via Jalan Syed Putra, and will connect to the NPE, Sunga Besi Expressway (Besraya) and the upcoming Laluan Istana Expressway (as) when).

According to IJM, the construction of the highway extension is expected to start in the fourth quarter of this year and it will take four years to complete. It added that the construction costs of RM1.418 billion will be completely borne by it.
The project is very part of the Kuala Lumpur Traffic Master Plan 2040, which prioritizes connections on the highway to high road that remain from the core of the city due to traffic. With four slopes and two new raised exchanges, the NPE2 is expected to turn the traffic into KL, especially along Jalan Syed Putra, Jalan Bangsar and Jalan Istana, which saves motorists up to 25 minutes in travel time.
As mentioned earlier, there will be a new tollplein, the Syed Putra Toll Plaza. The NPE2 also includes support for the Multi-Lane Fast Flow (MLFF) Tolling System, a Smart Highway Monitoring System, Smart Street Lighting and a new lay-by with EV chargers.
