NOW Women (D1) fall to freedom





It was a tough weekend for the Niagara University D1 Women’s Ice Hockey Team. They lost to Liberty College on home ice both Thursday and Friday.

Niagara University’s Holly Lesage scored the first goal of the game at 12:59 of the first period. Liberty answered back in the second period when Isobel Pettem-Shand tied the game at 13:50. The game was tied entering the third when Liberty struck as Tristan Craig scored at 4:02 and Brielle Fussy put the final puck in the net at 4:58 and the game ended 3-1, Liberty. Liberty’s Brooklyn Adams saved 12 of 13 shots and NU’s MacKenzie Addley stopped 30 of 33.

In game two, it was Liberty that shutout NU 2-0. Hayley Lee dropped one past Addley at 18:22 of the first period, no goal in the second, then Sienna McClinchey scored at 19:59 for the final goal of the day. Emma McDonald was in net for Liberty, stopping 15 shutouts and Addley stopped 44 of 46 for NU.

Niagara University next faces Aquinas College on Friday, November 7 at 6:45 PM on Saturday, November 1
