Nottingham Panthers achieved their first victory of the season, from behind to the storm of Manchester in the Storm Shelter.

“I think we played very well as a unit in the third, especially”, Panthers -goalkeeper Kevin Carr. “I thought our penalty murder was excellent tonight. Guys really bought in, blocked shots and those little details really helped.”

Manchester made the perfect start and only hit the match for 12 seconds when JD Dudek bundled the puck over the line in the neighborhood to give the home team an early lead against a Panthers team that had lost both opening matches.

“It was hard to go down early, we bounced back,” Carr added. “It was, you know, one of those situations in which you should think that” the game is not over, just because the goal comes in immediately, “so I really liked the boys’ reaction.”

Bryan Lemos was called upon to stumble at 10:11, but after his teammates killed the penalty, the attacker jumped back on the ice and the match tied only 11 seconds after his penalty had passed, so that the teams level stood during the first break.

Despite a series of powerplays, the game remained bound for most of the second period. The storm came closest when they defeated Kevin Carr to be refused by the mail alone. The breakthrough, however, came at 37:44, when Matthew Marcinew was a back -hand shot over a vast Drew Deridder to put the visitors in the frame at the front.

The third period remained tight. Nottingham survived a bank mold for too many men and repeatedly threatened to hurry, but could not extend their benefits. Storm called a time-out with 73 seconds left for an offens zone faceoff and pulled Deridder for the extra skater, but they could not keep the puck in the attacking zone. A foot race in the direction of the empty net ended with Mitch fossier that was hampered by scoring, which resulted in a criminal objective that sealed a 3-1 victory for the Panthers.
