Khamzat Chimaev does not believe that children should learn MMA.

‘Borz’ will conquer his first world title in Chicago this Saturday evening when he reigns and defending middleweight champion Drus du Persis on UFC 319.

While he is preparing to win gold in the OctagonChimaev wants to model the next generation of combat sports stars after recently opening a gym for children in his native Chechenia.

Interestingly, Chimaev did not form the new training center with an MMA cage. When asked why during Wednesday UFC 319 Media Day’Borz’ stated that children should concentrate on one sport at the same time instead of a sport that includes multiple disciplines.

Moreover, children who hit each other just sound like a bad idea.

“I don’t think this MMA can be good for the children because we hit the face, we broke each other, you know,” said Chimaev. “So grappling, kickboxing, boxing, all sports in one sport. You know that this is a great sport, but not for the children. So I think it should be like at least 15 years to train a number of different sports. You know, boxing or judo or wrestling, jokes, jokes, there for the young boys.”

Chimaev goes to UFC 319 with a perfect 14-0 record, eight of those victories that come under the UFC banner. His opponent, Dricus du Plessis, is also unbeaten in the Achthoek and wins nine straight fights – of which seven opened as the underdog.

Saturday’s scrap in ‘Chi-Town’ will be no different, because Chimaev is currently preferable to leave with the middleweight title with a margin of 2-on-1.
