San Antonio, TX – After fighting for a UFC title, Diego Lopes called his NOCHE UFC Main Event Fight against Jean Silva “Another day at the office” during Wednesday’s media day that promoted the event.
That is in stark contrast to Silva himself, who during his own media day was the appearance focused on the occasion and called itself one of the faces of the UFC.
“I understand him, because this also happened to me earlier. This is normal, no? A man worked so long before this time, for the main event in the UFC. I think it’s normal, but I don’t know, maybe it’s a mixed feeling for him and the fight,” Lopes (26-7) said in response.
Lopes has been there, that territory here. His own impressive rise of the 145LB division took him earlier this year to a title fight with Alexander Volkanovski. Now he seems to bounce back from a loss there, a kind of adopted Mexican originally from Brazil, with a map celebrating a map that celebrates the Mexican independence and the fighting spirit of the nation.
Although Diego Lopes may have to do with Jean Silva on one front, he does not fully understand his newest opponent. “I don’t know. This man is a bit strange. At the same time he talks Sh*t on the internet, but he tries outside as if he will be nice. I don’t understand this.”
When it comes to five rounds with Silva (who has never passed three), Lopes predicted an early night instead. “I am completing this fight. This is not the distance.”
Lopes also hit his fight with Volkanovski on UFC 314 in Miami. “I now have a lot of faith in myself, because I have learned so much in this fight. I think people have taught me many things in this fight. I also solved many things after this fight; now I have more faith in myself.”
He would expand by saying that “after that nothing is new for me in the Achthoek. I stood for the best man in the world. After the people, I think nothing is new to me.”
