Noah Sadiki: Man United eyes Sunderland star, but faces competition from rival PL club – Man United News and Transfer News | The People’s Person

Manchester United are reportedly interested in Sunderland midfielder Noah Sadiki, who is also on the radar of another Premier League giant.

United wants to strengthen the midfield

During the summer transfer window, United focused the majority of their efforts on strengthening their attacking department after a goals-shy 2024/25 season.

United made more than £200 million with the signings of Matheus Cunha, Bryan Mbeumo and Benjamin Sesko from Wolverhampton Wanderers, Brentford and RB Leipzig respectively. The club also signed goalkeeper Senne Lammens from Royal Antwerp on deadline day.

United were considering signing a midfielder after Brighton and Hove Albion’s Carlos Baleba was identified as their top target. However, a move for the Cameroonian was halted when he learned of his exorbitant price tag. United have postponed their plans to sign a midfielder until next summer when more money is likely to be available for a top player.

Interest in Baleba remains intact, but he is not the only one on the club’s list. Other options include Adam Wharton (Crystal Palace) and Elliot Anderson (Nottingham Forest).

United seems interested in signings who have already proven themselves in England and according to Sky journalist Sacha Tavolieri, Sadiki also has admirers at Old Trafford.

United want Sadiki

Tavolieri claims United will battle Chelsea for the signature of Sadiki, who has certainly looked good since Sunderland’s return to the top flight.

He has been crucial to the success the Black Cats have enjoyed this season as they currently sit ninth in the standings. Sadiki started 15 of Sunderland’s 16 matches, playing 90 minutes in all bar last week’s 3-0 defeat to Manchester City.

A strong and athletic defensive midfielder, Sadiki stood out for his exceptional knowledge of the game and ball-winning abilities. Although he is not a flashy playmaker, his passing is good, often simple and efficient.

He can also be deployed centrally in defense.

Tavolieri notes that both United and Chelsea are willing to step up their pursuit of the 20-year-old. Chelsea have already made contact to inquire about Sunderland’s asking price.

It is also believed that United have held talks with Sadiki’s representatives and could turn to him if Baleba proves unavailable again.
