Victorian hobby-co-trainers Peter Lane and Anita Burke may have recently unveiled one of the most exciting troubling fillies of the Harness Racing season in Maryborough.
Stylish and athletic, two -year -old Merrieveeulen Mevia (Elite Stride) -Anden to Mevia, a Roman woman of status who drew social standards to fight himself as a gladiator with an impressive debut win of 10 meters last Monday week (September 22).
Although he was ‘bustling’ and three attempts to qualify, Mevia (at home known as Evie) showed her natural talent in Maryborough, cruising to victory without being completely extensive.

“She has always felt a very beautiful horse,” said Burke.
“Peter never clicked on her when she won. He didn’t turn the whip around or asked her to go and he came back and told me he felt that she could have run something. It was quite exciting.”
Peter and Anita breeding Mevia’s Dam Mattaluca (CR Commando)) and Grand-Dam Rinehart (Great success)). Although Mattaluca showed the power, she never achieved her potential due to pneumonia as a foal and later in the breeding shed with fertility problems.
“Mattaluca was a nice trotter, but never had the wind to race,” said Burke.
“In the end we gave her away as a riding horse because unfortunately we had too much.”
Mevia, however, every bit of the athlete – a fact that is underlined by her qualification from the standing start at Cranbourne Trials on Sunday evening (September 28), who points her to the Group 1 Redwood Classic in Maryborough on November 2.
“We like to process ourselves before we send them to the Brekers, but because we moved home at that stage, then Mevia and our other two -year -old Merrieveeulen Klymene (Elite Stride) Should have been treated, they didn’t get as much attention if we would give them normally, “said Burke.

“Cameron Maggs breaks our young people, and he found them very strong fillies. When they finally turned the corner, he thought they both really nice-mevia he thought a lot, but he also said that we should be sure that we were hanging on Klymene.”
Former Kilmore -Locals, Peter is a former marketing professional and Anita, a horse doctor, and together they now manage the Bamnarring -Occlosure of Colleen Bamford on the Mornington -Schierteiland.
“I started racing in Harness when I worked 13 for Jean Feiss, and Peter has been in sport for a similar time,” said Burke.
“Peter does all the shoes, and we combine for most things. Colleen has always been to armor races, but is now heavily growing.
“We really enjoy it here – and it’s great to think that maybe one or two nice ones come through.”
The couple enjoyed remarkable success with Trotters Kheiron (Majestic Son) (14 victories, including the GR 1 Vicbred Super Series and GR 2 Breeders Crown in 2018) and Eisenhower (CR Commando) (12 victories, second in the 2009 GR 1 APG 3YO-Trotters Final).
Klymene (Elite stride), Half Sister of Kheiron, who also had an eighth start in Maryborough, is also progressing well.
“She’s more stupid, but she doesn’t have the glare of Evie,” said Burke.
“The problem is that the good horses pay for all rats! But we really just enjoy where we are and do everything together.
“It is absolutely very exciting – it will be interesting to see how many tours there are with Mevia, but we really can’t be happier with where she is now.
“We just hope that everyone who has his heart and soul in trotters, like us, will enjoy seeing how to move forward.”
