Blackburn Rovers let goalkeeper Jack Barrett go to Tranmere Rovers on loan in the last transfer period.
Blackburn Rovers gave the stopper the green light to temporarily join League Two. He will return to Rovers in January.
Barrett, 23, rose through Everton’s academy ranks. He was a regular for the Toffees at various youth levels as a youngster, but never played for their first team.
The Premier League side loaned him to Cavalry FC in the Canadian Premier League in February 2024. He went on to play competitively once during his time in Alberta before returning home to England.
The goalkeeper subsequently left Goodison Park following the end of his contract. He then weighed his options as a free agent.
Blackburn Rovers invited him to trial and he eventually did enough to earn a deal at Ewood Park. He was rewarded in May with an extension until June 2027, with the option for another twelve months on top of that.
He is yet to make a senior appearance for the Championship side. However, earlier this year he gained experience at Workington before Tranmere Rovers came calling.
How is Blackburn Rovers goalkeeper Jack Barrett doing on loan at Tranmere Rovers?
Blackburn Rovers allowed Barrett to join Tranmere Rovers to further boost his development. Rovers will monitor his situation at Prenton Park.
The player has made just four appearances for the Whites since his move, all in cup competitions. He played three times in the Vertu Trophy and once in the FA Cup.
Barrett has yet to make a league appearance and is mainly providing backup. He currently sits on the bench behind 44-year-old Joe Murphy.
Tranmere Rovers are managed by Andy Crosby and won 2-1 at Grimsby Town last time out. Charlie Whittaker and Krystian Dennis scored their goals against the Mariners at Blundell Park.

Blackburn Rovers have to make a decision on Jack Barrett’s loan move from Tranmere Rovers
Blackburn Rovers must make a decision on what to do next with Barrett. He returns to Rovers this winter.
They have to make a decision whether to let him stay at Tranmere Rovers or bring him back and send him elsewhere. He isn’t getting regular minutes at Birkenhead at the moment and while he provides strong competition and depth for their number one spot, he needs regular football.
Crosby’s men are unbeaten in their last three appearances in all competitions. They are back in action in the Vertu Trophy on Tuesday against Fleetwood Town at home, which will be a chance for Barrett to play.
