Nick Woltemade has once again proven to be a wonderful addition to Eddie Howe.
The Germany international has now started six games for Newcastle United and scored in five of the six.
His sixth start came at Brighton on Saturday, an outrageous back heel move from Nick Woltemade producing a stunning finish.
That goal equalized Danny Welbeck’s opening goal in the first half.
When Nick Woltemade scored in the 76th minute it seemed there could only be one possible winner as Newcastle had by then recovered from a poor first half and were the dominant team as the match progressed after the break.
As Newcastle forced chances and corners it looked like the winning goal could come at any moment, only for Brighton to break and get a lucky fall of the ball from an excellent Dan Burn block, with Welbeck once again applying a quality finish to deny Nick Pope a chance.
Nick Woltemade is happy for the Newcastle United fans and of course the players, but is keen to reassure supporters that he absolutely believes United will do well and that Premier League wins away from home will follow.
If Newcastle start away games like they did on Saturday in the last 30 minutes or more, then they will certainly win a lot of away games.
Nick Woltemade reflects on what happened on Saturday when he spoke to Premier League Productions:
“We didn’t do well in the first half.
“The second half was a good energy in the game.
“We scored one goal and it felt like we were going to win, but they played well and scored. That’s football sometimes.”
“The second half was much better than the first.
“I really enjoy playing here.
“I get balls; the players look for me. The gaffer trusts me.”
“In the second half we had good chances, but in the first half we lost them. We didn’t have good energy.”
“It’s part of football if the ball doesn’t want to go in, but it’s important that we keep working on that.
“We had a good week before the national break and today you can see that we can take the game on our side in away games.
“We will continue to work and win games.”
