Host: “I’ll jump back to (Steven) Stamkos, because you discussed Stamkos. Do you think Stamkos, his game has declined a little bit with age? He was a goal scorer. Goal scorers in later stages, you see the numbers drop unless your name is Alex Ovechkin.
NHL Rumors: Are Steven Stamkos and Jonathan Marchessault Tradeable?
But if he is put in the right place, does he have to go somewhere that has to be a perfect fit, or can he just go anywhere and actually help?”
Anthony DiMarco: “I mean, I think he can always help in some way. I mean, Nashville is just, like when your little brother took control of your Be a GM mode and ruined everything on July 1st while you were in school or something. That’s how I feel about it too. Like what Barry Ttrotz did with the Nashville Predators and not trying to throw shade at them, even though I’m completely throwing shade at them, because there’s a lot of good people working in that organization.
But you just signed Steven Stamkos when stylistically he was probably the player you needed least. But look around the NHL, and if you put Steven Stamkos on the wing of a creative centreman, I really think there is potential here for him to score a lot of goals.
Like in Montreal. I’m kind of wondering about that, because you did Nick SuzukiBut Cole Caufield already plays that role to some extent on that line and beyond. Do they have a creative center man to do that? I’ve often wondered about Toronto. Would it work for him and possibly? William Nylander And Johannes Tavares? I think that could be a pretty creative line.
And then you look more around the NHL, I just think you have to give him a creative facilitator in the middle, or someone on his line that can get him the puck. And I think that’s been the problem with Nashville. That’s by far their weakest position: center ice, with the likes of Ryan O’Reilly or the young kids like Fedor SvechkovI believe his name is.
NHL Rumors: New Jersey Devils interested in Ryan O’Reilly
They just don’t have the talent in the middle to help Stamkos really elevate his position. So for any team that acquires Stamkos, I’m sure you could help in some way, but make sure you have a strong center ice group and a center that can assist from his play.
