That said, there’s just: What can you do if you’re the Nashville Predators and Barry Trotz right now? You can do two things. You can fire a coach, or you can make a huge trade. But right now, this team needs a shakeup. This team needs something.
You know, I just wanted to have it as a sidebar issue. I brought this up on the show yesterday. I wonder what a team like the Nashville Predators thinks when they see Leo Carlsson, Macklin Celebrini and Connor Bedard start to help lead their teams out of the darkness. And you can say in the Western Conference, okay, you can now see the path for all these teams and these young, exciting superstars.
Meanwhile, not last summer, but last summer, the Nashville Predators doubled their number of aging veterans. You know, you’re going to be wondering if you’re the Nashville Predators, should we get into that game now? Because we’re starting to see what the next wave of top teams in the Western Conference will look like. They are not, no, these teams are not here now either. I know Anaheim is the closest, but you can see which way the Conference is going right now, and Nashville is quickly falling behind.

Look, there are teams that would love to have Steven Stamkos. You know, there was definitely love to have, it’s teams out there. And I wonder, even after Stuart Skinner’s performance (Monday night) that there are teams that would love to have Juuse Saros, I’m sure.
I don’t think Trotz wants to fire Burnette. Maybe he should. The question then becomes: will Barry sit behind the bench himself? Best coach in Nashville Predators history. I don’t think he wants that. Or will you go to Karl Taylor, the head coach of the Milwaukee Admirals, the AHL affiliate of the Nashville Predators? That’s your decision there. Or do you start testing the market on some of these other players?
