Seravalli: “And the reason why the interest, I think, hasn’t been more genuine this week and trying to freeze a holiday roster for a guy like Anderson is because we’re looking at the East. We just talked about how there’s a tangle of teams that are outside of the true top-five in the West. In the East, everyone is over .500 in the East. And so teams are trying to figure out who we are authentically about this, or are we just and also walked.”
And they’re not willing to trade assets that early in advance without knowing the answer to that question, or at least having a better chance of formulating it. So that part stood out.
I mean, Rasmus Anderson has very limited control when it comes to that no-trade. It’s a six-team no-trade, so he won’t have much say.
But I mean, count on all the traditional no-tax states having a chance to win. Those are approximately the desired destinations. And not a surprise to anyone, those are the teams that are generally in the mix. So I think for a lot of these teams, who may have a big appetite, it’s a whole different story to actually be able to get the trade done.
Brien Rea: “Yeah, and one last thought for me on this: the way, Bill Guerin basically went sniper in the weeds on Quinn Hughes called Vancouver and said, boom, there’s my package, and just pulled his biggest clubs out of the bag. It could be until after January, you know, before, right before the Olympic break, or just after the trade deadline, a team just has to call Calgary and say, ‘Okay, there’s our best and a final offer. Take it or leave it. it.’ And try to go over the top before they say, let’s do this, and they send Rasmus Andersson away.
Seravalli: “The point, however, is that it will most likely happen between the turning of the calendar to 2026 and the freeze of the pre-Olympic selection. Because yes, there is a third deadline this year, and that is the freeze of the Olympic selection.
