What will Connor Bedard make with his next contract?
Dave Pagnotta of The Fourth Period joined Sirius XM NHL Network Radio and was asked how much Connor Bedard could expect in his next contract with the Chicago Blackhawks.

Dave Pagnotta: “You know, Kooli, this one looks like this and you’re right. There’s no rush. There’s no worry that they’re going to figure that out. It’s not going to go anywhere in the end. But this is a scenario where both sides, because both sides are willing to be patient, also want to get a sense of where things stand. Where is one side versus the other?
Will Connor Bedard emerge and put up serious numbers this season? If so, that will have some impact on the discussion board. Now there’s a thought that will likely enter the eight-figure realm. And I think some of these younger stud players, with all this potential, honestly, former first overall pick, are going to get on that kind of discussion board. And especially if this continues, and he has a season without lights, you could definitely see something starting in the 10 range for Conor Bedard over the entire run.
Remember, players can sign eight-year contracts or eight-year extensions, and RFAs can do that until September 16 next year. So that’s still part of the equation for a lot of younger players. The UFA guys, if they are looking for an eight year contract, you have until September 30th if you want to be back at your club, excuse me, June 30th, I should say, my apologies.
But if you’re an RFA, you still have until the start of training camp, or right before next season, to commit and capitalize on that extra year. That will disappear from September 16 or 17 of next year. The maximum will be seven to perform again, and for new clubs it will be six. So this is an interesting scenario for a lot of young kids and teams with their young talent, like Chicago with Bedard.

But again, like you said, patience. Both parties are willing to be patient, but it will be a pretty penny once someone is called. You’re probably looking at at least $80 million to keep him in Chicago.
