Could the Toronto Maple Leafs make a deal with the Calgary Flames?
@Nylanderthews: Elliotte Friedman said on Sportsnet 590 that the Toronto Maple Leafs were trying to acquire Rasmus Andersson at the trade deadline last year. Of course it didn’t work then, but could they figure it out now? Friedman adds that Leafs GM Brad Treliving a trade with the Calgary Flames will be difficult.
The Leafs nation: Jay Rosehill A league source said the Toronto Maple Leafs are trying to acquire defenseman Rasmus Andersson from the Calgary Flames.
Rosehill: “Interesting. I get, I have a guy in the league saying the Toronto Maple Leafs are actively trying to get Rasmus Anderson out of Calgary.”

Rosehill: “Sources with seven S’s. I can’t reveal my sources. But yeah, interesting man. It’s clear that the power, the trust that’s at the top of the Toronto Maple Leafs totem pole, doesn’t like what they’re seeing.”
And I don’t know, it’s just so interesting about how, what they think would make the team better. Who they think would do that, and how they want to achieve that. Because changing this roster is as difficult as ever, you know, your draft picks are all gone and you don’t have any prospects that anyone is that excited about.
So it is not an easy task to make a valuable change to this roster. So we’ll keep an eye on that. But it has been confirmed that Toronto is definitely interested in Rasmus Andersson from Calgary.”

Rosehill: “Is that as simple as it is? Just text and talk about it? Pretty simple, pretty basic gig.”

But I mean, Andersson is an intriguing one. Calgary is a tire fire. We all know they’re going after Gavin McKenna. I mean, it makes no sense why he tried to dwell on this point.
Even from Andersson’s point of view, the only way to close that deal is to re-sign Rasmus Anderson. B) You even have the resources to play for Rasmus Andersson, right?
As we all know, the teams will be involved, whether it’s Dallas or Vegas or everyone should be lining up for Rasmus Andersson. A right-handed, shooting defenseman. I just don’t know if the Maple Leafs have the resources to make such a deal.
