Irfaan Gaffar: “An interesting team is off to a good start with the Carolina Hurricanes. You know, they’re a team that always wants to be in the mix and kind of get over the hump. What do you think? Or has there been talk about the Carolina Hurricanes and, and, and adding something to this?

Pagnotta: “Yeah, you know what? They’re a team that, we know, hasn’t been afraid to make big changes over the last few years. And obviously a great start to the season so far for them. They’re still not afraid to make those big changes.”

NHL Injuries: Blackhawks, Stars, Kings, Wild, Devils, Penguins, Maple Leafs and Canucks

The last time they tried the (Jake) Guentzel thing was two years ago. Last year they tried Rantanen, but in the end they got a good package in return. They’re going swinging this summer, they’re bringing in Nick Ehlers.

This is a team that is pretty excited for next season. I spoke to Sebastian Aho during the European media tour, and he was just super excited going into the season about the team’s chances and the fact that they were going out again, and basically taking the biggest fish available at that time in Ehlers.

I understand Eric Tulsky isn’t afraid to do it again. He’s not afraid to go out and take another look. I don’t think there’s anything close. Like I don’t expect anything to happen anytime soon, but I do expect the Hurricanes to go out again this season, and at least be involved in those types of conversations for the big fish that will become available later in the season.

Whether that’s the case, it’s another guy on an expiring deal, or if it is, it’s someone else on a term. They are there. They feel like they are there. And if there’s still a chance for them to pick someone up, push him over the hump, I think Tulsky has all the support from the top to do whatever he needs to do to make that happen.

NHL Rumors: Bullish on the New York Rangers and Artemi Panarin

Colby Cohen: “Yeah, I think the Metro Division is one that’s always interesting. And I think one of the places where we always seem to be on target is when it comes to the Carolina Hurricanes, and they finally have that answer.
