Contract talks between the St. Louis Blues and Philip Broberg should begin soon
Jeremy Rutherford of The Athletic: St. Louis Blues defenseman Philip Broberg is entering the final year of his contract. An early-season forecast had him at $6.7 million, but his play could earn him at $8 million apiece over eight years.
Blues GM Doug Armstrong said in October there was no rush to extend Broberg Dylan Holloway. They would get them signed and will leave room for both to sign. RFAs are pending for both. Armstrong indicated that talks could take place in December.
Last week, Broberg’s agent said in a text message: “I am confident that we will engage in those conversations when appropriate.”
NHL Rumors: Teams are laying the groundwork for a potential trade
The Kiefer Sherwood calls for the Minnesota Wild, and others have shifted as the Wild look for secondary scoring
Michael Rosso and Joe Smith of The Athletic: The Minnesota Wild have expressed interest in the Vancouver Canucks forward Kiefer Sherwood. The current UFA has a cap hit of $1.5 million and a salary of $1.3 million. The physical attacker scored nineteen goals last season and is well above that pace this year.
The Canucks originally asked for a good, young prospect. A source said Wild offered one, but the Canucks have moved on and are reportedly asking for a good draft pick and have asked a number of teams for a first-round pick.
There is speculation that the Canucks are interested Marco Rossibut I don’t see the Wild trading Rossi in a deal for Sherwood. At the 2025 NHL draft, the Canucks rejected a trade offer from Rossi Aatu Raty, Arthur Silov and the No. 15 pick.
NHL Rumors: Senators, Kings, Canadiens, Blues, Oilers and Kiefer Sherwood
Heading into the holiday roster freeze (December 19), the Wild are looking for secondary scoring. Vladimir Tarasenko hasn’t produced the offense they were hoping for. Ryan Hartman does not score and is available for trade. Marcus Foligno has not scored in 23 games and is out due to injury. The fourth line is not offensive.
