The Philadelphia Flyers could be looking for a middle-six center. Do they want to aim high?
Kevin Kurz of The Athletic: Confirmed by multiple sources that the Philadelphia Flyers are looking to add depth at center. They want to improve their fourth line. The loss of winger Tyson Foerster has also affected their scoring depth. Adding a middle-six center could bump Noah Cates up the flank.
29-year-old Christian Dvorak is a pending UFA, and with his production this season and the tight market, his price is going up. I could see the Flyers being fine with a two or three year deal, but I don’t see them wanting to go five years.
Do the Flyers want to acquire a higher-end player who isn’t tied to a long-term deal? St. Louis Blues Brayden Schenn has two years left at $6.5 million or Nashville Predators Ryan O’Reilly has one year left at $4.5 million.
It shouldn’t be assumed that one of their best young prospects will take a spot in the next year or two. They don’t want to rush if they’re not ready.
