The New Rangers were told ‘No’ when they asked about Will Smith and Ryan Leonard
James Murphy of RG Media: The San Jose Sharks and Washington Capitals have expressed interest in New York Rangers forward Artemi Panarin.
A source said last weekend that the Rangers asked the Sharks about Will Smith and were told “no.” The Capitals were asked about Ryan Leonard and were told, “No.”
Can Florida Panthers GM Bill Zito find a way to land Artemi Panarin?
James Murphy of RG Media: An executive source on Tuesday night on the Florida Panthers’ pressure on New York Rangers forward Artemi Panarin.
“They’re still there. I keep hearing that Lightning is making a late attack too, get this! So is the Wild!”
NHL Rumors: Toronto Maple Leafs deadline plans should remain the same
The Panthers are nine points ahead of the wildcard, but Panarin would like to join his good friend Sergei Bobrovsky.
The source added that you can’t discount Bill Zito.
“He finds ways to make it work cap-wise, and even if they have Panarin and don’t make the playoffs, they can bounce back next season when they’re healthier, and they’ll have Panarin to help them do that.”
Former Panthers General Assembly Steve Werier got to work PuckPedia how a transaction might proceed. Paul Theofanous is the agent for Bobrovsky and Panarin. The Panthers would likely need Mackie Samoskevich. Two sources said Eetu Luostarinen, who has one year left on his contract at $3 million, could also be included. The Panthers don’t have a first-round pick until 2028
The Columbus Blue Jackets are on a roll, but they have pieces that teams want
Marco D’Amico of RG Media: Teams have contacted the Columbus Blue Jackets about Boone Jenner, Charlie Coyle and Dmitri Voronkov. Mason Marchment has looked good in Columbus and they might look to extend him. Danton Heinen and Erik Gudbranson could be rental players.
Voronkov has one year left on his deal at $4.175 million, and despite scoring nearly 20 goals, he’s falling into the lineup.
NHL Rumors: Could the New York Rangers move Artemi Panarin before the Olympic trade freeze?
“Voronkov is a name I’ve heard interestingly a few times,” said a source on the subject. “Columbus had the chance to lock him up and went through the bridge. Now he plays on the fourth line, despite scoring more than 25 goals. Something has to be done.”
