NHL Rumors: Philadelphia Flyers and the Anaheim Ducks

Despite some rumors, Owen Tippett doesn’t talk much

Sportsnet: Elliotte Friedman isn’t sure where all the Owen Tippett rumors are coming from.

Friedman: “I have to say this, there’s been a lot of rumors about Owen Tippett. I don’t get that. I don’t get that.”

Kyle Bukauskas: “He’s a locker room DJ now that Scott Lawton is gone.”

Friedman: “Well, then you definitely can’t trade him.”

Bukauskas: “That’s just as good as a no-move clause.”

Friedman: “Seriously. I don’t know, I have to tell you, I always look around and I always say this, like, there are things I don’t hear, and I don’t like to dump on other people’s information, because there’s definitely things I don’t hear, and everyone has different sources. But I really can’t find a lot of Tippett talk there. Like I don’t, I haven’t found any evidence that he’s there.”

NHL Rumors: A David Kampf Resolution Could Be Coming Soon

Could the Anaheim Ducks get off to a good start?

Daily Faceoff’s Tyler Kuehl: The Anaheim Ducks are off to a great start, and while it may be a bit early to make a big swing, could this become an option down the road if their solid play continues? David Pagnotta was on Daily Faceoff Live and thinks they can make a big splash, noting that two of their top players so far this season will need new contracts.

“I think Anaheim really likes what’s happening there with the group they have, with Joel Quenneville behind the bench. Leo Carlsson was fantastic. Cutter Gauthier was great. A lot of their younger guys are really producing. And besides, those two guys need contracts. So that’s going to eat up a lot of their cap space moving forward.”

But they still have so much more cap space and flexibility they can add. So I think this is going to be another scenario where I would describe the Ducks and Pat Verbeek not necessarily lurking in the weeds, but lurking in the shadows.

If something comes up and it’s beneficial for them to take advantage of it now, I think they would explore that in terms of bringing in a big fish. Otherwise, they’ll just keep taking notes, keeping an eye on things, and then maybe strike in the summer.”

NHL Rumors: When Will the Trades Come?

Pagnotta went on to say they have the prospects and draft picks to make a big swing.
