If the New York Rangers aren’t really in the playoff hunt before the deadline, changes could happen before the offseason

Marek: “If things stay this way for the Rangers this season, what will the offseason look like?”
Walker: “It depends on whether they really drop out and don’t make the play-offs.”
Marek: “That’s what I mean, if it’s below the limit here.”

Walker: “Yeah, I definitely think there’s going to be more movement. I mean, if they’re not within reasonable distance of the playoffs by the trade deadline, I mean it would be remiss of Chris Drury not to use Artemi Panarin. You know, and see what kind of loot they can get for him, obviously.”
So I would expect the next few weeks, especially leading up to the trade deadline, to kind of dictate where they go. But I mean, two, two years in a row that not making the playoffs is not going to be well received. So to speak.”
