NHL Rumors: Los Angeles Kings and the Philadelphia Flyers

Teams are looking at the Los Angeles Kings and wondering why Brandt Clarke doesn’t have an extension

James Murphy of RG Media: Multiple sources said last week that some teams are wondering about Los Angeles Kings defenseman Brandt Clarke.

“That’s a player a lot of guys have been wondering about since the offseason,” an NHL source recently told RG.

“There were people who were surprised he wasn’t locked up. Blue chip prospect, but that didn’t happen.”

He plays in their second pair and could one day become a top player. He is in the second year of his ELC and has an AAV of $863,334. The source added that the longer he goes without an extension, his value and trading interest will only increase.

Another source added that the Kings have no interest in trading him at this time. General Manager Ken Holland is keeping a close eye on him to see if he can play a key role for them in the future. With Kings also dealing with Adrian Kempe’s contract situation, teams are circling.
