Kiefer Sherwood is generating the most interest from the Canucks in pending UFAs
TSN: Pierre LeBrun said the Vancouver Canucks have informed teams that their pending UFAs are available, and forward Kiefer Sherwood is drawing the most interest. He has a $1.5 million cap hit, plays physical and scores.
“Of the teams I think they inquired about, one is the Minnesota Wild. That makes sense; they looked at the top six options. I think the Montreal Canadiens at least picked up the phone to see what was going on there. But there are several other teams, again, all the attractive aspects of Kiefer Sherwood.”
Believe they would like to get a young player back in exchange for Sherwood on futures.

TSN: Pierre LeBrun also adds the Dallas Stars as one of the long list of teams that have kicked tires on Kiefer Sherwood.
“I’m told Montreal and Dallas are also among a long list of teams that have at least broken ties. But again, that’s a long list of teams. Vancouver isn’t rushing into this, I’m told. They want to get a full picture of what the market looks like. But what will be interesting to me is whether some of these teams that are more serious in these conversations are willing to sign Sherwood as part of this to increase the value for Vancouver? We’ll see if that happens or not.”

TSN: The Ottawa Senators have spoken to all the teams who have said they are listening to the calls to their players, according to Pierre LeBrun, who adds that we may have to downplay speculation that they would make a “big swing.” They would like to add someone to their top six or top nine, and maybe more of a single rather than a home run.

“You look at a lot of the smart moves that Steve Staios has made over the last year, and a lot of them are singles that have really helped the team. That’s not to say you wouldn’t be interested in something bigger. But I just think if you’re going to play the odds here, I’d say it’s more of, ‘Hey, is there something that could help, that’s not a blockbuster, but that could still help our top six.’ I think that’s more what they’re looking at between now and March 6.”
