Will the Edmonton Oilers build up enough cap -space to make a large movement at the Trade Deadline?

David Staples of the Edmonton Journal: Bob Stauffer on his oilers now shows that his plan for the Edmonton Oilers to acquire a larger top nine attacker, now to rest some money, to set up the salary cap space and take a big step in the trade deadline.

“It is our conviction that the Oilers are not ready, which you might drop between now and when we drop the puck for the first match of the regular season, drop a change in the line -up. Maybe Edmonton can see a contract. I could provide a scenario in which Edmonton Caprace builds. And then the Deadline comes in the Mix.

Stauffer adds that he thinks there are one or two players they can move. Mattias Janmark is a useful player, but … Adam Henrique has a clause without movement, so he will probably not be traded.

Note that Janmark has a cap hit of $ 1.45 million and a clause with 10 teams, no-trade. He is a fourth line player, who only had two goals last season, and his defensive match is now only average. Can see that the oilers can make a big move through the deadline. They have their 2027 first round pick to act for a top attacker or goalkeeper.

Jake Walman’s contract project

Zach Laing van Oilers Nation: Edmonton Oilers Defenseman 29-year-old Jake Walman has left a CAP hit of $ 3.4 million for another year. Oilers now said Bob Stauffer that they should sign him this month at an extension.

Evoluing hockey projects a six-year-old deal with a cap hit of $ 6.278 million. A deal of five years of projects on $ 6,079 million and a three -year deal at $ 5,074.

Given his age, he does not have much wear because he only plays in 267 NHL games, 189 AHL -games and 107 NCAA -games -563 in the past 10 seasons.

With the rising cap it is possible that he signs a larger deal. Vladislav Gavrikov signed a seven -year -old $ 7 million deal in the past outside the season. Aaron Ekblad signed eight years for $ 6.1 million.
