NHL Rumors: Carolina Hurricanes and Ottawa Senators

Will the Carolina Hurricanes look to move a goaltender?

Adam Proteau of The Hockey News: The Carolina Hurricanes claimed goaltender Brandon Bus he was waived off waivers by the Florida Panthers on October 5 and has been doing well since. Now that Pyotr Kochetkov is back healthy, the Hurricanes have three goalies with them.

Is it time for the Hurricanes to start looking at trading a goalie? Frederick Andersen? Yes. Having the goalkeeper depth is good, but they could use the squad depth on the blue line or up front. Health is always a concern when it comes to Andersen. His save percentage is well under .900 and his GAA is over 3.00. Andersen is in the final year of his $2.75 million cap hit contract.

Kochetkov has had his own injury problems and issues at times, but he’s still only 26 and his numbers are better than Andersen’s. He is under contract for another year for $2 million.
