NHL Rumors: Buffalo Sabers and the Philadelphia Flyers

The Buffalo Sabers could use a depth defenseman and another forward

Matthew Fairburn of The Athletic: The Buffalo Sabers will need to sign another defenseman before the trade deadline, one who can provide reliable minutes on the third pairing.

The Sabers have that Conor Timmins he is coming back from injury as he will resume skating between now and when they return to action after the break, but he has a broken leg. They still need to add depth to the blue line.

Adding a top-nine forward should also be a goal for the Sabers. The Sabers should get Josh Norris and Zach Benson back after the break, but there’s still a lot of hockey to be played.

NHL Rumors: Colorado Avalanche and the Vancouver Canucks

William James of Philly Hockey now: The Philadelphia Flyers have dropped out of the Metro Division and gone from regular buyers to sellers as their chances of making the playoffs have dropped to just over 10%.

There has been some speculation that they could make a big move, Owen Tippett or Travis Konecny (as mentioned by Nick Kypreos), either at the deadline or during the offseason. notes that the Flyers are not trading Konecny, who is a leader on the team and has a full no-movement clause.

Tippett may not want to be traded, but the Flyers are organizationally deep on the wing. Could they include him in a big trade package for someone like the St. Louis Blues Center? Robert Thomas?

Awaiting RFA forward Bobby Brink is having a good season and could be a player to gain interest and possibly be moved by the Fyers. He has been linked to the Minnesota Wild.

NHL Rumors: Columbus Blue Jackets and who could be interested in Vincent Trocheck

Again, defender Rasmus Ristolainen will be in the rumor mill leading up to the March 6 trade deadline. A good performance at the Olympics for Finland could increase its trade value even further. He’s playing top-pair minutes in Philly and has looked good. It may be time to get maximum returns for him.

Other potential defenders that could be moved include Noa Juulsen (perhaps for a mid to late round pick), Emil Andrae (in a package for a center), and Nick Seeler (no trade clause). Andrae and Seeler will probably stay.
