A deal that probably made both goaltenders happier
Sportsnet: Elliotte Friedman on the Edmonton Oilers and Pittsburgh Penguins goaltending trade. Both Stuart Skinner And Tristan Jarry were ready for a change of scenery.

And it weighed on Skinner. It weighed on the team. It put pressure on the organization. And I think everyone here felt it was just time. And I think in the end Stuart Skinner would probably agree that it was just time. Like, it weighed too much on everyone.

What made Edmonton comfortable with Jarry is that apparently, behind the scenes, he made it very clear, Ron, that if he knew his time in Pittsburgh was getting tight, and he made it clear that he wanted to go to Edmonton. He has a place outside of Edmonton. He will return there in the summer. He played Junior there. And the Oilers did their research on him, and they felt like they felt comfortable with him because he’s a happy-go-lucky guy from Edmonton.
The problem with (Brett) Kulak is, I don’t think they wanted to trade him, but they had to do it to make the money work. And that was kind of like the last step, but it was a big shock. You could see that those players were surprised. I heard Skinner got woken up yesterday with the call that he was going to be traded.
And the funniest story I heard today was from Adam Henrique. He told Kulak it was his responsibility on the road to make the dinner reservations. So the players said, I know Lulak was traded, but are we still asking him to book tonight in Toronto?
