ELLIS WINS NHL DEBUT FOR FAMILY AND FRIENDS
The Sabres are 3-0-0 at home since October 15 thanks to goaltending Colten Elliswho made 27 saves to win his NHL debut, ending the Red Wingswinning streak after five games in the process. Ellis, who hails from Whycocomagh, NSbecame the first Nova Scotian goaltender to play in the NHL in more than a decade and the ninth to win his League debut with the Sabres – and did so at the front family and friends.

* Ellis, a third-round pick out of St. Louis in the 2019 NHL Draft who was claimed off waivers on Oct. 6, became the second goaltender to win his NHL debut this season, following Brandon Bus (October 14 with AUTO). After his support club was caught on TNT cameras reacting to his escape stopsEllis was interviewed after the match Through Henrik Lundqvist and the NHL on TNT crew: “It’s a good thing I can’t see you guys, I think I’d be more nervous talking to you guys.”

DILLON HELPS DEVILS EXTEND THE WINNING STRIKE TO SIX GAMES
Brenden Dillon scored his second goal in as many days, both ending as game winners, to help the side Devils win their sixth game in a row. New Jersey, tied with Montreal for the league lead in wins (6), posted its second-longest winning streak in the past 13 years, following a 13-0-0 run in 2022-23 (which matched a franchise record).
* Dillon became the fourth defenseman in franchise history with the game-winning goals in consecutive games and entered Dougie Hamilton (November 21-23, 2024 and January 22-24, 2023), Brian Rafalsky (5-8 December 2001) and Barry Beck (December 13-17, 1977). He’s the first Devils player to do this consecutively to dawn since Ilya Kovalchuk (6-7 January 2012).

* Matthew Schaefer (2-5-7 in 6 GP) begins a six-match winning streak after making his first career multi-point performance against the Sharks on Tuesday and helping the Islanders skating to a third straight victory. New York’s No. 1 pick appears to be shaping up to be the best first defenseman in NHL history to start his career with a seven-game streak, as well as the first 18-year-old blueliner to record a run of that length at any point in a season.

* Mark Scheifele comes into play at a five-game goal streak and can equal the longest run of his career (6 GP in 2020-21). Winnipeg also has a five-game winning streak heading into the game against Seattle, the second-longest active streak in the NHL (behind NJD: 6-0-0).
