Lane Hutson’s breach of contract
Marco D’Amico: Lane Hutson’s agents wanted an upfront deal with a high percentage of signing bonuses to help reduce taxes. Hutson’s contract makes more money than Luke Hughes and Jackson LaCombe, after taxes and fees.
Erik English: “Lane Hutson was offered more, but signed for less. He bought himself security and bought the Habs some more space to continue building a championship-caliber team. He wants to win. He could have held out longer and waited a lot longer. Not doing that says a lot about him.”
Puck Pedia: Lane Hutson’s eight-year contract extension is cut short at a cap hit of $8.85 million. He has a no-trade clause for 10 teams for the final three years of the contract.
