TSN: The Montreal Canadiens signed forward Alexandre Texier to a one-year contract worth $1 million.

The Buffalo Sabers are set to terminate Alexandar Georgiev’s contract

Bill Hoope of the Buffalo Hockey Beat: The Buffalo Sabers have placed goaltender Alexandar Georgiev on waivers with the aim of terminating his contract. Georgiev returns to the KHL and signs with Spartak Moscow. The Sabers had signed Georgiev to a one-year, $825,000 deal on September 11.

Georgiev played with Rochester (AHL) and only played in two games (0-2-0 with a 3.57 GAA).

Mikko Rantanen has been suspended for one match

Max Molenaar: Boston Bruins forward Elias Lindholm returned to the lineup after missing the past 10 games with a lower-body injury. The Bruins placed defenseman Charlie McAvoy on IR.

Heather Angel: Buffalo Sabers forward Zach Benson returned to the lineup after missing the past 10 games with a lower-body injury.

Heather Angel: Carolina Hurricanes forward Jordan Staal missed yesterday’s game due to illness.

Bruce Miles: Chicago Blackhawks forward Jason Dickinson returned to the lineup last night after missing the past 10 games with an upper-body injury.

Darrin Bauming: Minnesota Wild forward Nico Sturm made his season debut. He suffered a back injury during training camp.

Stephen Rosner: New York Islanders defenseman Alexander Romanov will be out five to six months after shoulder surgery. He was brought on board last week by Dallas Stars forward Mikko Rantanen.

Darrin Bauming: Winnipeg Jets defenseman Neal Pionk left last night’s game in the second period with a lower-body injury. Jets coach Scott Arniel said he will be evaluated today and is on the daily list.
